16 Mountains, 217 Lifts!

16 Mountains, 217 Lifts, Endless Amazing Experiences to Come!
So it’s been over a week now and the ski industry is still trying to sort out what Aspen just did.
From one day closing the season at Highlands with the party of the year to waking up the following day and finding out that your home town ski company just purchased Intrawest I could not help but spill my coffee.
While trying to digest this only to wake up two days later to find that Aspen again with its new alliance and partner KSL (made up of two former Vail employees) has also just purchased Mammoth Mountain and others in California.
Apparently Aspen will continue to run its core mountains of Aspen (Ajax) Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass independently and the newly acquired mountains and entities will run under a name yet to be determined. Collectively this is a great mix of players and will no doubt make the powers to be at Vail do some real thinking. While Aspen can already hold its own against any entity, now with its new formidable partnership and strengthened marketing alliances, it will no doubt offer more value to passholders and skiers across North America.
The following resorts are now part of the new mix with Aspen and KSL and this list does not even include peripheral resort properties and amenities as well as Canadian Mountain Holidays -- one of the largest Heli Ski operators in the world.
Alpine Meadows, CA
Bear Mountain, CA
Blue Mountain, ON
June Mountain, CA
Mammoth Mountain, CA
Snowshoe, WV
Snow Summit, CA
Steamboat, CO
Squaw Valley, CA
Stratton, VT
Tremblant, QC
Winter Park, CO
Somehow I think “they” are only getting started! Stay tuned…
